In this Science Update, student explore studies that confirm that the large fish population is quickly dwindling and that fish are actually getting smaller due to ocean ecosystems getting off balance. Science NetLinks provides a link to the audio file, a written transcript, and questions that engage students in a discussion about industrial fishing and fishing for sport and possible strategies for conserving large fish populations. This lesson also provides links to two related Science NetLinks lessons, a lesson from National Geographic, and The Seafood Choices Alliance, a non-profit group that connects those involved with environmentally sustainable fishing practices.
