In this ARTSEDGE lesson, students choose a state and create a multi-leveled map booklet. They apply basic map skills and develop a sense of the state's shape by outlining the state and drawing overlays of the state's geographic regions, counties and their county seats, major cities, and agricultural/industrial products. The final piece is a graphic representation of a unique element related to the state's history, geography, or economy. Each portion of the map will be created on a separate piece of tracing paper.
