This lesson, the third of an eight-part unit from Illuminations titled “Multiplying Meanings,” encourages students to explore the set model as a method for multiplication. Reading the children's book What Comes in 2's, 3's, and 4's sets the stage for this lesson in which students find products using equal sets and present results in the form of a table. The students apply their knowledge about multiplication in the creation of pictographs.
