In this ReadWriteThink lesson, students research animals with nonfiction and informational material. Through their research they will learn how to document their discoveries. They will work together to question, research, investigate, and share their findings. This lesson incorporates student interactives and links to a variety of web resources.

Grade 1

  • Goal 4: The learner will EXPLORE and USE research processes to meet information needs.
  • Goal 5: The learner will COMMUNICATE reading, listening, and viewing experiences.
    • Objective 5.01: Respond to reading, listening, viewing experiences orally, artistically, dramatically through various formats.
    • Objective 5.02: Produce media in various formats (e.g., pictorial, multimedia).
    • Objective 5.04: Collaborate with others, both in person and through technologies, to identify information problems and to design, develop and evaluate information products and solutions.

Grade 2

    • Objective 3.03: Explain and describe new concepts and information in own words (e.g., plot, setting, major events, characters, author's message, connections, topic, key vocabulary, key concepts, text features).

Kindergarten

    • Objective 3.02: Discuss concepts and information in a text to clarify and extend knowledge.
