Lesson #2

Once students have completed their list (from lesson #1), they are ready to compare Luther's criticism with that of Victor Hugo. Students should now create a chart in which they cite situations which demonstrate evidence of misuse of power in The Hunchback of Notre Dame.

Each connection is worth a maximum of 10 points. Students are expected to gather 10 examples of ways the novel connects. The teacher may choose to allow repetition of grievances with the condition that the text evidence be different.

80 - 90 above average
70 - 80 average
60 - 70 below average
below 60 - student should address the assignment again to gain a higher mastery
