Combine the sentences in each section, trying to reduce the number of words and the way the sentence is written. For example, each sentence begins with the subject and then has the verb: I walked, It was, It smelled, It smacked, etc.
I walked across the parking lot. It was a hot day. It was the first hot day. I smelled honeysuckle. It smacked me in the face. It transported me to the beach
I don’t know why the odor of tar should carry me to oceans. I don’t know why honeysuckle should carry me to oceans. I don’t know why the sizzle of payment should carry me away to oceans. The sizzle is satisfying. The sizzle is thick.
But there I was. I was deep in sand. My hand was sifting though cool mud. I was feeling for periwinkles. Whitecaps were building toward tomato sandwiches. Whitecaps were building towards afternoon naps. I am a beach person.
