The road to Mount Shasta, California. Mount Shasta is a 14,179 foot high stratovolcano in the Cascade Range. It is the fifth highest peak in California. Mount Shasta is considered a dormant volcano, but it is expected to erupt with the next several hundred years. Mount Shasta and the area surrounding it are managed by the U.S. Forest Service.
