Woman outside street cafe receives pedicure in Ho Chi Minh City's Chinatown

Sizes available: 1024×683 | 600×400

A woman sitting outside a street cafe receives a pedicure in Ho Chi Minh City’s Chinatown. The customer reads a newspaper and soaks her left foot in a basin while the pedicurist wearing a cloth sunhat tends the toes of her customer’s right foot.

At a table in the background at left, two women sit with drinks and snacks. Another woman in between works behind a folding suitcase stand labelled “Marlboro” from which individual packs of cigarettes are sold. The cigarette vendor and the pedicurist hope to attract customers from among the people stopping for inexpensive refreshments at the outdoor cafe.

The health risks of smoking are less widely publicized in Southeast Asia where U.S. brand cigarettes sell well, especially among urban men.
