Tropical fruits of Southeast Asia including mango, lotus, mangosteen, and lychee

Sizes available: 1024×683 | 600×400

This overhead view of some tropical fruits available in Southeast Asia includes four yellow mangoes, three green lotus pods on stems, three purple mangosteens, and a pile of reddish-brown lychees in a purple plastic bag.

Innumerable varieties of delicious fruits grow in tropical Southeast Asia. Many grow wild in the forests, but favored varieties are cultivated in older villages where they are eaten mostly as snacks when in season. Often young rural children scour the village or wild forest trees and pick fruit so early that adults hardly see a ripe morsel.

Urban markets usually offer a wide variety of ripe fruits delivered from farms in nearby rural regions.
