LEARN NC has a wide variety of resources available to help teachers in their classrooms every day. But did you know that there are approximately five hundred best practice resources located on LEARN NC’s website? We’ve recently aligned all of these resources to the Professional Teaching Standards for North Carolina.
(00:20)
You can easily find these best practice resources from LEARN NC’s website, located at www.learnnc.org. On the left hand side of the site, click on the link “NC Professional Teaching Standards” under the heading “Professional.” Resources related to each standard can be found by clicking on the link to that standard.
(00:46)
For example, let’s click on standard four, “Teachers facilitate learning for their students.” After clicking on that standard, we can see all the objectives for standard four. Underneath the description for each objective is a link that says, “Find related resources.” Let’s click on that link located underneath objective 4.04 “Teachers integrate and utilize technology in their instruction.”
(01:12)
Right now, this search returns twenty-eight results that are aligned to this objective, including best practice articles, videos, and instructional models. We can see that each result has a brief description to help you select the item or items that best meet your needs. Let’s click on “Using VoiceThread to communicate and collaborate.” This article shares information for how to successfully use VoiceThread, a free collaborative multimedia software, to engage students in the classroom. This is just one of many resources we have available to give teachers fresh ideas for their instruction. Searching for resources this way makes it easy for teachers to find best practices and instructional models that align to the Professional Teaching Standards. Please continue to visit learnnc.org to see the great ideas we have underway.
