Sea plants and animals by shore of Lanka (Thai Ramayana mural at Emerald Buddha Temple)

Sizes available: 1024×683 | 600×400

This detail image from a mural at the Emerald Buddha Temple depicts the marine plant and animal life in the sea around Ravana’s island of Lanka.

Visible here on rocks exposed by the tides are realistic and recognizable images of coral, conical shells, a sea urchin, a starfish, and a horse shoe crab. A large wave, soon to crash, curls at the left of the image.

This image was photographed in August 1984.
