Sita and Rama lead procession onto royal barge (Thai Ramayana mural at Emerald Buddha Temple)

Sizes available: 1024×683 | 600×400

Sita and Rama lead a procession onto a royal barge, as seen on a mural at the Emerald Buddha Temple.

Sita and Rama walk onto a rectangular wooden barge docked at the riverside. Barge workers prostrate themselves on top of the barge at their rulers’ feet. Courtiers hold royal umbrellas over Rama and Sita’s heads.

Behind the royal couple and Laksman, a long line of their courtiers and allies wraps around to the right and through the countryside along the back of the painting.

This image was photographed in August 1984.
