Rama sits in palace ruling over kneeling subjects (Thai Ramayana mural)

Sizes available: 1024×683 | 600×400

Rama sits on a platform in his palace ruling over his kneeling subjects, as depicted on a mural at the Emerald Buddha Temple.

Rama sits on an elevated platform on the right while dozens of figures kneel respectfully on the red tile floor below him. Vistors wearing gold crowns are at the front kneeling on a blue rug, while commoners kneel and bow behind them.

After Rama returns to Ayudhya and finally is reunited with his wife Sita, Rama rules wisely over a peaceful and harmonious kingdom for many, many years.

This image was photographed in November 1982.
