Mount Cayambe in Ecuador

Size: 1024×682

Emerging above the clouds is the snow-capped peak of Mount Cayambe. Rolling hills and woodlands can be seen in the foreground.

Mount Cayambe is Ecuador’s third-tallest peak. Like all of Ecuador’s lofty peaks, Mount Cayambe is a volcano and part of the the Pacific “ring of fire.” The peak is highest point in the world that crosses the equator. It is snow-capped year round, and is a favorite destination of mountain climbers.
