Colonial hacienda in Latacunga, Ecuador

Size: 1024×682

A large, three-story house sits behind open gates. In front of the house is a circular driveway with a fountain in the middle.

Latacunga is in the highlands of Ecuador. At over 9,000 feet elevation, the town of Latacunga’s climate is usually cold and windy. The town is also close to the active volcano Cotopaxi. Proximity to the volcano has meant that the town is susceptible to earthquakes and eruptions. In fact, the town was destroyed by earthquakes four times before the year 1800.
