A small thatched-roof hut is nestled in verdant forest growth.

The eastern part of Ecuador is dominated by rainforest. Traditionally, this area is the home of thousands of Quechua-speaking Indians. Recently, the discovery of huge oil reserves has threatened the tranquility of this area.
