Paws and head of giant Hanuman cover pavillion to protect Rama (Thai Ramayana mural)

Hanuman enlarges himself to cover a pavillion to protect Rama, as seen on a mural at the Emerald Buddha Temple.

In this image, Hanuman’s huge head and paws encompass the Siamese style pavillion where Rama, Laksman, and their guards are sleeping. The columns, platform, and stairs of the pavillion are visible inside Hanuman’s open mouth. His white snout and the back of his paws are decorated with red spiral designs.

During the period of fighting on the demon island of Lanka, Hanuman notices that Rama, Laksman, and their troops are in danger of attack from demons. He then uses his special powers to enlarge himself to gigantic proportions to protect them.
