Women pick fruit in fertile garden (Thai Ramayana mural)

Sizes available: 1024×683 | 600×400

Women pick fruit in a fertile garden, as painted on a mural at the Emerald Buddha Temple.

Four women move contentedly around a lush landscape with colorful flowers and ripe fruit growing around boulders. A woman on the right reaches over a boulder to pick fruit, while three others gather together in the background standing by a pond.

In the Ramayana, when Sita and Rama are finally reunited harmoniously, they rule for many years over a happy kingdom where there are timely rains, fertile lands, and abundant harvests.

This image was photographed in August 1984.
