A man in Bali sells feather dusters from his motorcycle.
Wearing a helmet, dark pants, white long-sleeved shirt, and rubber sandals, a man straddles his motorcycle, which carries his goods for sale. Long-handled dust brooms with bright red feathers are tied from his front handlebars to the back of his motorcycle. A cardboard box, green tubes, and more short-handled feather dusters are tied to the back and front of the motorcycle.
Such petty traders are very common throughout Southeast Asia. Like the “Fuller brush men” of mid-twentieth century United States, these door-to-door salesmen often circulate through fixed routes and return periodically to their established customers.
