Two men standing along road with rows of cock baskets

Size: 1024×686

Two men, both wearing Balinese sarongs, hats, and rubber thongs, stand along a road with rows of cock baskets. The men’s sarongs are both rolled up to knee height, typical for informal work activities. The man on the left is bare-chested and wears a dark baseball cap, while the man on the right wears a brimmed straw hat and an open long-sleeved white shirt. The men stand chatting together, both touching one of the identical cock baskets that are piled two high in two rows at the edge of a sidewalk. The men stand at the curb in front of a building constructed of cement blocks. A red motorcycle is parked nearby.

At least one of the men is selling the baskets, which are used to confine chickens, often fighting cocks. The baskets have a handle at the top and a detachable plaited bottom. With the bottom piece removed, chickens can graze in the areas where the easily moved baskets are placed.
