Balinese farmer with hoe stands on dike, reflected in water of curved rice terraces

Size: 1024×686

A Balinese farmer with a hoe resting on his shoulder stands on a grassy dike between curved wet-rice terraces. The farmer’s shadow is reflected in the water of a flooded field. The curved shape of these terraced fields, each edged with a grassy retaining wall, follows the contours of the original mountainside where they were built. Coconut trees grow from some of the dikes or slopes between the fields.
