Flower and leaf offerings placed on ground to bless newly transplanted rice shoots

Size: 1024×686

Flower and leaf offerings are placed on the edge of a field to bless newly transplanted rice shoots growing surrounded by water.

Balinese use palm leaves, sticks, flowers and food to make a vast array of colorful decorations, many of which are created as shrine, temple, or holiday offerings to please Balinese Hindu gods. Offerings also are placed in a family’s rice fields at each important stage of the rice growing process. Here the rice plants have just been transplanted into a newly flooded field.
