Kuala Kangsar is where the “sultan of Perak” lives. I spent a day in this town, located at the mouth of the river, visiting the masjid, or mosque, and the royal palace.

In this recording, you can hear the call to prayer, which is broadcast five times a day from every Muslim mosque. After the prayer ends, you can hear the ubiquitous rooster crow.
