Mountains, houses, play ground, cattles and wodden swings

Size: 1024×675

The Himalayas tower over this residential valley outside of Pokhara in the Annapura region. Elevated resting areas made of mud and supported by an outer stone wall are often erected in areas such as these for the benefit of trekkers, children at play, and people tending cattle. Cattle are an important part of the agricultural economy of Nepal, though raising cattle for meat is illegal.

A traditional rotating wooden swing can be seen in the bottom right corner of the photograph. Swings such as this are constructed for Dasain, the 15-day national festival of Nepal.
