Machhapuchhre mountain, clouds and ripening rice fields

Size: 1024×675

Machhapuchhre, a sacred peak standing 6993 meters above sea level, juts out through the veil a of monsoon cloud. The branches of a bir tree, which dot the mountain landscape of Nepal, can be seen to the left. Many resting places along the pathways are built under the canopy of these trees. Maturing rice plants grow on the terraced fields beneath the mountain. Terracing is a prominent feature of mountain agriculture in Nepal.
