Stone steps along a trekking trail in the western mountain region of Nepal

Size: 675×1024

A stones step path winds around the side of a mountain in Nepal. This trail is part of the historical salt trade route that crosses the mountains into Tibet.

Although salt is no longer transported along these routes, they are still used to carry herbs and other goods from Tibet and the upper mountain regions of Nepal to be traded in the villages and towns. The route also serves as a trekking path for tourists and their guides and porters.
