Buffaloes wallow on the hillside tank while three small kids keep their eyes on them

Size: 1024×675

Buffalo wallow in a hillside tank while three young children look after them. Water is a very precious resource in the mountains and people harvest it by building collection tanks such as this one. These tanks are often community-owned and villagers contribute labor to build and maintain them.

The children in this picture are approximately 5-8 years old. Young children provide necessary household labor, though many of them also go to school.
