Trekking sign--showing directions and distance

Size: 1024×675

A sign for trekking routes at Ghorepani, Nepal. These signs are meant for tourists and they are exclusively in English — an indication of the extent to which tourism in Nepal is geared toward international travelers rather than toward domestic travelers.

Ghorepani is in the Annapurna region of Nepal while Jomosom is the center of the Mustang District, a part of Dhawalagiri Zone. The district lies across the Himalayas in the Tibetan plateau and encloses the Lho Mang Thang. The district is famous for Muktinath (a popular Hindu pilgrimage site), along with its apples and distilled Marpha brandy.
