Corn storage, ochre-painted houses, terraced fields and forest patches

Size: 1024×675

On the trail between Ghorepaani and Taatopaani, Nepal, three houses stand on a mountain — two above the trekking trail and one below it. A raised corn storage platform can be seen to the right side of the uppermost house. The corn storage is a traditional agricultural technique in the mountains. The corncobs are stacked around a raised platform and covered with dried thatches on top to keep the rainwater from getting in.
