Jong river and arid mountains on the background

Size: 694×1024

The Jung Khola river outside Kagbeni village in the Mustang district of Nepal. Vegetation can be seen on the banks. Snow melting off of the nearby Himalayan mountains contributes to this river, which will converge with the Kali Gandaki.

Rivers like Jhung Khola are a major source of irrigation in this region. This area sees very little rain because the nearby peaks block the monsoon rains.
