The floodwaters from Hurricane Floyd ruined thousands of dwellings, rendering many permanently uninhabitable. This image shows the interior of a home in Rocky Mount, North Carolina, the floor strewn with debris and the walls covered with stains. A ceiling fan draws the eye to patches of mildew.
