lithograph of a pure white woman with brown braids wearing a gold, blue, and red gown carrying an American flag

Sizes available: 429×640 | 161×240

This hand-colored lithograph shows an almost pure white woman with dark braids carrying an American flag. On her head, she wears a golden tiara decorated with a shield that echoes the pattern of the flag. A sheer white veil flows down her back and over her low-cut gown of red, blue, and gold.

The stars on the flag are not arranged in the contemporary pattern but appear to be lined up in a grid-like fashion, possibly implying forty-eight stars.

Under the image is the title in capital letters, “The Star Spangled Banner.” Following are these lines:

O! long may it wave,
O’er the land of the free,
And the home of the brave.
