Small and large boats fill an ocean harbor. A few men sit in the small boats in the foreground. Beyond them two larger boats sit at anchor. In the background low hills rise on the far shore.
Manzanillo is a large seaport town on Mexico’s west coast. It was founded early after the Spanish conquest of Mexico and became an important ship-building port during the colonial period. The name of the town comes from the Manzanillo tree, which provided essential raw materials for building ocean–going ships. Today the town is Mexico’s busiest port and a popular tourist destination.
