Bay of Manzanillo, Mexico

Size: 1024×709

The blue waters of the Pacific Ocean are visible from the perspective of a tree-covered hilltop. Several mountain peaks rise beyond the bay.

Manzanillo is a large seaport town on Mexico’s west coast. It was founded early after the Spanish conquest of Mexico and became an important ship-building port during the colonial period. The name of the town comes from the Manzanillo tree, which provided essential raw materials for building ocean–going ships. Today the town is Mexico’s busiest port and a popular tourist destination.
