Photograph of a female northern shoveler.

Sizes available: 900×600 | 300×200

Photo of a female northern shoveler (Anas clypeata). The northern shoveler is a migratory duck found in wetland habitats in the Northern Hemisphere. It feeds mostly on plants, which it eats by swinging its broad bill from side to side, straining plants from the water. During the nesting season, it also eats insects and mollusks.
