Photograph of a conch shell. Conches are marine-dwelling mollusks with spirally-constructed shells. The conch has been a traditionally useful animal to humans of many cultures: Conch shells have served as musical instruments, decoration, and weapons, and conch meat — both raw and cooked — is eaten by people all over the world.
