Elephant at the Five Rathas in Mahabalipuram, India

Size: 1024×661

This is a sculpture of an elephant at the Five Rathas (temple) in Mahabalipuram, India. The temples and elephant were carved during the seventh century out of tan stone. The elephant is tall and is probably around fifteen feet high. To his left, the intricately carved corner of one of the Rathas is visible, and behind him, you can see the back of a statue of a lion. There are several people walking around the statues and the temples. The sand is pocked by many footprints.
