The famous white dome and minarets of the building are conspicuous against the cloudy gray sky, as are the large gate building with its four minarets and the walls that surround the Taj Mahal. The rooftops of many nearby buildings are visible and are painted in colors ranging from light blue to yellow to rust orange to white.
