Meenakshi Amman Temple in Madurai, India

Size: 661×1024

This is one of twelve gopurams (towers) at the Meenakshi Amman Temple in Madurai, India. It is decorated with hundreds of intricately carved and painted figures. It is quite tall, rising even above some trees in the foreground. The sides of the temple form a pointed pyramid shape. The temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva (in the form of Sundareswarar) and his wife, the goddess Meenakshi.
