Mehrangarh Fort in Jodhpur, India

Size: 1024×661

Mehrangarh Fort, located in Jodhpur, India, looms high over the viewer. It was constructed in 1459. A tall wall in front of the fort serves as fortification. It is made of white brick which has, in some spots, weathered to a dark gray, and it is topped with a series of pointed scallops. Behind it, the fort, made of a similar white brick, rises several stories. The main part of the building is framed by octagonal corner towers and is split down the middle with bay windows, all of which are decorated at the bottom with carved brackets. The windows have arched openings and are grouped in threes.
