Rock layers can be seen in these formations along a trail in Chesler Park in Canyonlands National Park

Size: 1024×682

The Needles area is located in the southeast section of Canyonlands National Park. Visitors hiking along the Chesler Trail will see rock formations created by millions of years of erosion. The layers of sedimentary rock have rounded, smooth edges. Surrounding the rock are bushes with small green leaves. A blackened tree trunk has fallen over and is leaning against one of the rock formations.
