A dead tree is the focal point of this picture taken along Chesler Park Trail in Canyonlands National Park.

Size: 682×1024

The twisted remains of a dead tree stands in front of the smooth tops of rounded rock formations along a Chesler Park trail in the Needles section of Canyonlands National Park. The sedimentary rock layers have been exposed over millions of years of erosion. Scrubby bushes and grasses survive in the harsh conditions of the rock faces.
