Newspaper Rock is one of the largest and most well-known petroglyph panels in Utah. The petroglyphs were probably carved about 1,500 to 2,000 years ago by Native Americans, but exact dating of the carving is impossible, as is determining its purpose or meaning. Newspaper Rock is located on the access road to the Needles District of Canyonlands National Park.
