The old-fashioned soda shop at Mars Hill College

Size: 640×480

This is an old-fashioned soda shop at Mars Hill College in Mars Hill, North Carolina. Mars Hill College is located about fifteen miles north of Asheville. It is a private liberal arts school affiliated with the North Carolina Baptist Convention. The college was founded in 1856. Originally, it was named the French Broad Baptist Academy after the nearby French Broad River. It was later renamed Mars Hill College after the hill in ancient Athens upon which the apostle Paul defended Christianity. Mars Hill is located in Madison County, in the heart of the Appalachian Mountains.
