This woman is giving a demonstration on dyed yarns at the Great Smoky Mountains National Park Mountain Farm Museum. This demonstration, among others, was part of the “Women’s Work” event, a day honoring the role of women’s work in the region’s historical past. Visitors can also explore a log farmhouse, barn, apple house, springhouse, and a working blacksmith shop to get a sense of how families may have lived 100 years ago. Most of the structures were built in the late nineteenth century. Demonstrations are given with costumed interpretations.
