This is a spectacular view from the Cherohala Skyway in Graham County, North Carolina. Constructed over 34 years at a price of $100,000,000, the Skyway is North Carolina’s most expensive highway. It connects Robbinsville, North Carolina with Tellico Plains, Tennessee. The Skyway crosses through the Cherokee and Nantahala National Forests (hence the name Chero-hala). The Skyway is 36 miles long and crosses mountains over 5,000 feet tall. Most of the area around the Skyway is unpopulated. Other than restrooms, there are no facilities on the Skyway’s entire 36 miles.
