Historic Moores Creek Bridge at the Moores Creek National Battlefield

Size: 1024×768

This is the historic Moores Creek Bridge at the Moores Creek National Battlefield in Pender County, North Carolina. This was the site of a Patriot Victory over the Loyalists at the Battle of Moores Creek Bridge. The Patriots removed the planks of the bridge and smeared the beams with lard before the Loyalists arrived, forcing them to cross single file and leaving them open for attack. The Patriots opened fire on them at pointblank range, killing many instantly and drowning others in the creek below.
