Joel Lane House

Wakefield, the gambrel-roofed home of Colonel Joel Lane, has been restored to its 1790-95 appearance by the Society of Colonial Dames. Colonel Lane became known as the “Father of Raleigh” after he sold 1,000 acres of land to the state in 1792 to establish a permanent state capital.
