Roanoke River Lighthouse replica in Plymouth, NC

Size: 1024×681

This is the Roanoke River Lighthouse replica in Plymouth, North Carolina. There have been several lighthouses built to help sailors find safe entrance to the Roanoke River since 1835 when Congress funded construction of a light vessel. In 1866, the original Roanoke River Lighthouse was built, but unfortunately burned that same year. Other lighthouses were built to replace it and the last functioning lighthouse was sold into private ownership and moved. The Roanoke River Lighthouse is a replica of the 1866 light station and has been built with “remarkable detail.”
