The Castle on Ocracoke Island

Size: 1024×768

This is the Castle on Ocracoke Island. It was built by Virginia entrepeneur Sam Jones during the 1950s and was worked on and added to through the 60s and 70s. It overlooks Silver Lake, a small harbor. Sam Jones is buried on Ocracoke Island with his favorite horse, Ikey D, at Springer’s Point. After being vacant for several years, the house was renovated and turned into the current bed and breakfast.
